Trial Update is a major new update that brings in many new features to Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.0. Players can now enter Trial Chambers, a challenging new way to earn exciting new loot. They can also do battle with the bogged and leap using wind charges, craft a mace, harness auto-crafting and build with new blocks and more.
Trial Chambers are a series of new challenges in the Overworld that scale in difficulty with the number of players in a session. They reward players with unique banner patterns, music discs, smithing templates and the powerful heavy core required to craft the new mace weapon.
This update introduces the Bogged, a new enemy mob that can spawn in Swamp and Mangrove Swamp biomes. It shoots arrows that damage and slow players down, as well as a new ability to knock entities back with a projectile called a “wind charge.” Killing Bogged enemies drops bones and arrows, and they can drop a Breeze Rod. Breeze Rods can be used to brew potion of wind charging and can be thrown by players or dispensers to knock entities back and activate redstone components.
This update introduces ominous trials, which are advanced challenges that can be activated by activating a trial spawner while the Trial Omen effect is active. These trials spawn more mobs than standard trial spawners, and they eject a different set of loot items – including the rare Trial Key. Players who defeat all of the mobs spawned by an ominous trial will be rewarded with an ominous trial vault that can be unlocked with a special key found within the trial vault.
