OUR STORY - THE A-TEAM
Graze Tapas started as a family concern @Saltbox in July 2019 with Steve Randall as the head chef ably supported by his family Wendy, Bella and Thomas. Steve hails originally from the U.K. and lived in Australia for many years before returning to the U.K., complete with Aussie accent.
His culinary skills are influenced by famous Australian restaurateurs Bill Grainger and Ross Dobson, the latter specialising in innovative bbq methods. Over the years, Steve has adapted the recipes and techniques learned into his own unique Aussie-Tapas style, inspired by many visits to Mediterranean countries.

HOW GRAZE TAPAS CAME ABOUT
By 2019, Steve and Wendy Randall had been running the Red Lion in St Kew Highway for 10 years and staging various special events and promotions. A particularly well-attended, ongoing event is held on Friday evenings, between 6 pm and 7 pm, when they provide tapas and pintxos FOR FREE!
HIGH LOCAL DEMAND
The local enthusiasm for these tapas events pointed to a clear demand in the broader Wadebridge area for tapas and pintxos-style food. To some extent, that need was being addressed by establishments run by celebrity chefs, but with celebrity-priced menus, offering questionable value for money. Also, when you look more thoroughly, it turns out that there are very few places in Cornwall selling genuine tapas. So they identified a definite gap in the market for a tapas bar in the Wadebridge area of North Cornwall.
CONVERTED SHIPPING CONTAINERS ARE TRENDY
Steve and Wendy had also noticed a number of new tapas bars springing up based in converted shipping containers. These can be found in cities like London, Manchester and Bristo. Steve and Wendy and were keen to follow that trend, not the least reason being that visitors from the cities would be familiar with and keen to frequent container-based tapas bars.
So when they were offered one of the converted shipping containers at the new Saltbox foodie venue in Wadebridge, this presented the perfect opportunity for them to set up a tapas and pintxos bar. This enables them to make Steve's Aussie-style tapas and barbecue-style dishes available to a wider audience in North Cornwall, all at very reasonable prices via a fashionable shipping container format.
And so, after concluding the lease and after a rapid fit-out in May and June of 2019, Graze Tapas bar came into being and opened for business in July 2019.
The rest is history, as they say.
